A joint project of the municipalities of Vidin and…
A closing press conference on the project “Preventing and limiting the consequences of human-induced trans-border disasters in the Vidin-Zajecar region” was held in the hall of the Municipal Council – Vidin. The project is funded by the European Union through the Cross-Border Cooperation Program INTERREG-IPA Bulgaria-Serbia 2014-2020.
The meeting was opened by Ventsi Paskov, Deputy Mayor of Vidin Municipality. He thanked all the participants for the successful implementation of the project and reminded that two years ago, on November 22, Vidin Municipality, in its role as a leading partner, concluded a grant agreement with the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works and the Directorate “Territorial Management Cooperation “, which is the Managing Authority of the Cross-Border Cooperation Program. Paskov also commented on the acquisition of two new waste collection and disposal machines, which is the main investment for the municipality. He added that there was also an exchange of experience of officials from both municipalities and training in disaster prevention. All project activities contribute to reducing risks such as drought, floods, forest fires, landslides and environmental pollution as well as their prevention, to increase the administrative capacity in this area of responsible experts in the long run.
During the press conference, a short presentation of the project was made by Veneta Yordanova, a junior expert in Vidin Municipality, in which she focused on the main goals and activities carried out.
